INDIAN HERBAL SCIENTISTS claim to have found a cheap and effective treatment for hepatitis B, a terrible illness which has about two billion people infected (HBV - Hepatitis B Virus), which more than 350 million people have chronic (lifelong) infections worldwide.
Lucknow International Institute of Herbal Medicine (IIHM), directed by Dr. Narendra Singh has developed a plant extract of (curing liver-kidney) of traditional India, which catalyzes the production of interferon in the cells. Low generation of interferon in cells reduces the liver's ability to fight viral infections. Healing kidney and liver hepatitis is a combination of Bohrriva Deffusa (Punarva) Picorhiza Curova (Kutki) and herbal extracts Phylynathus Hirruri, which has been found very useful in treating the deadly disease.
Singh said that scientists and clinicians from 12 countries in Asia are part of the intensive research and the drug was recently given recognition by the Orthodox Union, an agency of the United States and Israel. U.S. companies, France, Israel and Canada have reached an agreement with IIHM for mass production of drugs.
Herbal formulations have the ability to increase both the level of hemoglobin and interferon. "We will continue with more drug tests and discussions with other agencies," said Dr. Singh.
"Herbs were raised in the botanical garden of Banaras Hindu University and the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), thus giving impetus to the possibility recognized in a big way," he said.
Hepatitis B is preventable with a safe and effective vaccine has been available since 1982. Is 95 percent effective in stopping the chronic infection. This is the first vaccine against cancer in humans is more important. World Health Organization (WHO) called for all children receive the hepatitis B vaccine in 1991. 116 countries have added this vaccine to their routine immunization programs.
However, India, where it is needed vaccines, most have not yet received, because the government can afford it.
